AION 2 Dungeons Guide — Solo, 5-Player and 10-Player Formats

FAQ

How many dungeons does AION 2 have?
More than 200, according to NCSOFT's official description of the game. They span three formats: solo instances, 5-player party dungeons and 10-player group dungeons.
Can AION 2 dungeons be soloed?
A dedicated solo format exists, so yes — an entire tier of the dungeon pool is designed for one player. The 5-player and 10-player formats are built around group roles and are not designed to be soloed.
What is the hardest content in AION 2?
The 10-player group dungeons are the largest coordinated PvE format, and the community expects them to be the raid ceiling — but exact difficulty tuning is unconfirmed until the global build is live. The Abyss adds the hardest open-world pressure by mixing in faction PvP.
What level do I need for dungeons?
Level requirements per dungeon have not been published for the global build. For reference, the September 2026 Launch Scale Test capped players at level 37. Confirm each dungeon's entry requirements in game at launch.
Is there dungeon PvP in AION 2?
Not in the instanced formats — but the Abyss is a zone where PvE and faction-war PvP overlap, so open-world PvE there can turn into a fight at any moment. Community coverage also mentions arena-style modes; treat those names as unconfirmed until launch.

More than any other number on AION 2’s feature list, the dungeon count tells you what the endgame looks like: over 200 dungeons across three group sizes, wrapped in seasonal challenges, competitive rankings and open-world events. If raid nights are why you play MMOs, the sequel arrives with the content volume to back it up.

One honest caveat before anything else: NCSOFT has not published an English dungeon-by-dungeon breakdown yet. This guide covers the confirmed structure only — no invented boss names, no invented mechanics. Detailed boss guides land on this page after global launch, once the fights can actually be run.

The three dungeon formats

FormatGroup sizeWhat it is for
Solo instances1 playerLearn your kit, progress at your own pace, no queue, no roles
Party dungeons5 playersThe core group loop — roles and coordination matter
Group dungeons10 playersThe large-scale PvE format, the closest thing to classic raiding

Solo instances: your training ground

A whole format of the 200+ pool is built for one player, and that is rare in a modern MMO. Use it. Solo instances are where you learn how your class actually flows — how chain skills branch, how your movement handles, what your burst windows look like — without four strangers watching. They also make AION 2 genuinely playable on your own schedule; see the beginner guide for how they fit into week one.

5-player dungeons: where roles lock in

The 5-player format is the standard group dungeon. This is the size where the classic MMO triangle stops being optional: someone holds the monsters, someone keeps everyone alive, and the rest break things. Queue as a tank or healer here and you will never wait long — that rule has survived every MMO generation.

10-player group dungeons: the raid format

Double the bodies, double the coordination. The 10-player group dungeons are the largest instanced PvE format announced for AION 2 and the community’s expected endgame ceiling for organized groups. With ten people in the air — remember that AION 2 fights happen in three dimensions — the coordination ask goes beyond anything the 5-player format demands. Expect these to be where guilds separate from pick-up groups.

Party composition basics

Roles in AION 2 map cleanly onto the eight launch classes from our class list:

RoleClassNotes
TankTemplarThe only pure tank; sword and shield, aggro control
HealerClericMain healer, resurrection
SupportChanterBuffs and off-healing; fits the fifth slot in many parties
Melee DPSGladiator, AssassinGreatsword sustain; dagger burst
Ranged DPSRanger, Sorcerer, SpiritmasterBow and spellbook damage from a safer vantage point

The classic 5-player shape — one tank, one healer, three damage dealers — is the natural starting point, with a Chanter sliding in as support where a group wants it. Exact party requirements per dungeon will be confirmed in game at launch.

Seasonal challenges and competitive rankings

On top of the static dungeon pool sits a seasonal layer: seasonal challenges, competitive rankings and open-world events are all in the official feature list. What exactly gets ranked in the competitive layer — clear times, scores, progression — has not been detailed in English materials yet; treat the specifics as launch-confirm. Either way, the seasonal loop is the reason to keep dungeon routes fresh months in.

The Abyss: PvE with a war attached

The piece that makes AION 2’s PvE unusual is the Abyss, the zone where the Elyos-vs-Asmodian faction war overlaps with PvE content. You can be mid-fight with a boss-tier monster when the other faction arrives, and your dungeon-brained party suddenly has a PvP problem. Community coverage also names arena-style modes like “Chaotic Abyss” — those mode names are unverified, so confirm in game at launch. For how fighting changes at altitude, see the aerial combat guide.

Progression hooks to know

Community coverage of the Korean build mentions progression systems by name — Stigma, Pendant, Arcana, Enhancement — but their details are not officially verified for the global version, so we only flag the names here. The currency to watch is Kinah, carried over from the original AION. How these systems feed dungeon rewards will be mapped properly once the global servers are live.

The bottom line

  • 200+ dungeons at launch, in solo, 5-player and 10-player formats
  • Solo instances make the game respect your schedule; group dungeons make it respect your roles
  • Templar tanks, Cleric heals, Chanter supports — build the rest from the DPS classes
  • Seasonal challenges and rankings keep the pool from going stale
  • The Abyss stitches PvE into the faction war, so always check the horizon

Boss-by-boss strategy pages follow after the October 5 launch, once the fights exist in the global build to document.
